Strategy: Can You Guess My 2-1-4 (CDN Version)
Big Idea: The teacher provides two facts, one clue, and four pictures for students to analyze and make predictions about the topic of study.
Change it Up!
| In Math… …by providing students with two facts and one clue about a concept such as perpendicular lines. Ask students to review the facts and clue to name the concept, and then have them use digital cameras, tablets, or phones to go on a geometry hunt to find four images that show real life examples of that concept. or rhyme, and the pictures provide visual examples. |

In Social Studies…
…by providing several 2-1-4 organizers that are filled in with facts, clues, and pictures. Ask students to work individually to match key vocabulary words or concepts to each organizer and then have them gather in groups to discuss their results. If they discover discrepancies, ask them to justify their answers with evidence from the media they’ve watched or read.
| In Kindergarten…
…by using the 2-1-4 organizer to introduce and reinforce number concepts. The facts become related vocabulary, the clue a simple puzzle or rhyme, and the pictures provide visual examples. |

| In Science… …by using the strategy as an assessment. Ask students to generate the facts, clue, and images to convey a concept they’ve learned. |

In any subject…
…by asking students to generate the facts, clue, and images for a key word or concept you assign.
