After your students have had a chance to learn about a variety of STEM / STEAM careers and to dive into a few specific ones, encourage them to use one of the following formats to imagine having a particular job.
Instructional Strategy: Multiple Perspectives (Canadian Version)
Encourage students to pick a video or image that shows a person engaged in a STEM / STEAM career or environment that interests them and then write from the perspective of someone or something in the environment.
Instructional Strategy: Can You Guess my 2-1-4 (Canadian Version)
Adapt this strategy to have students create the material for guesses for each other. See if they can compose two facts, one clue, and four pictures to get other students to guess their job or area of study.
Instructional Strategy: Fakebook (Canadian Version)
Have students create “Fakebook” pages for someone in the career(s) of their choice. What would this person be posting about? What sorts of images would appear on their page? Who would their colleagues/friends be?
