It was the 76th anniversary of the Golden Globes this year! This celebration of film and television is sure to bring excitement and controversy throughout Hollywood and, perhaps, in your classroom. Take this opportunity to turn the spotlight to your students’ talent in videography and storytelling. We’ve selected some resources to spark the creative spirit and support their filmmaking efforts. Consider running a short contest to inspire them to participate in a classroom Golden Globes.

APPLY
Have your students become active participants in the Golden Globes by getting into the festivities. They may create their own video for a classroom contest or they may participate in a classroom voting, polling, and mini-ceremony of their own – for either the Golden Globes nominees or their own entries in a classroom contest. For simple and consistent videos, encourage students to use the Paper Slide strategy (Canadian Version) for entries into a film contest. For more complicated videos, adapt the strategy Pin It! To use the approach for storyboards. Have students plan their story and filming with the strategy using sticky notes in categories like Key Points, Shots, and Crew. Finally, use the SOS strategy And the Award Goes To… (Canadian Version) to inspire students to make creative certificates (or trophies) to recognize entries in your student contest.
